Expanding Our Networks

There are people we see frequently– people we somehow touch.  I am going to call them our networks.  They change over time.   Most of them have at least several people in them.

Each one of our networks is characterized by one or more things – perhaps the conversations we usually have, or our likes, or interests or commitments.  Some of our networks may be private, perhaps guarded or protected.  Most people who we know belong to at most a few if our networks.

Most of us take these networks for granted, but what would happen if we purposely concentrated on expanding them? There are two ways to do that – grow the network or have people ‘join’ more of yours.

There’s another way worth exploring – How can we expand our sharing of our connections.  If you knew that I liked whale watching and you had someone in your networks that you knew also liked whale watching – connect us..  And vice versa.

We already have a communications network.  And this works together with a code of privacy.  That’s why I also copy this in my BLOG  – for your comments https://michaellipp.wordpress.com, called Contribution Coaching… you can remain private or identify yourself when you comment.

Here are a very few of the things I’m up to – I write about most of them and I’m listing them so you can share this with more of your networks.  Here are some of mine –

  • ·         Nancy is about to launch her sustainability site www.Grow2Green
  • ·          My soon to be born new websites, michel.com – which will initially hold  contributioncoaching and michaelsreadingroom.
  • You’re seeing a transformation of my business model.
  • ·         The Awakening the Dreamer Symposium
  • ·         Ending Hunger (THP, EEH)
  • ·         The Global Abundance Alliance and other people whose mission is for all of us
  • ·         Referral Partners, Affiliates, joint venturers
  • ·         Humor, wisdom (the difference is all a matter of interpretation)
  • ·         Millionaire Mind graduates
  • ·         Landmark Education Graduates

I do expect to hear from you, commenting on the blog.  What, if any, is the effect of thinking about yourself iin terms of noticing your networks and looking to grow them?

Useful Quotes

What, exactly, is the internet? Basically it is a global network exchanging digitized data in such a way that any computer, anywhere, that is equipped with a device called a ‘modem’ and making a noise like a duck choking on a kazoo

Dave Barry

We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.

Martin Luther King

All true language is incomprehensible, like the chatter of a beggar’s teeth.
Antonin Artaud

Silence and solitude are more distracting to me

than chatter and commotion.
Marilu Henner

A Circle of Friends & New Friends

We are opening the limited circles

of our thinking. There are ways in which

we will touch and never knew we could

or did.

Each circle has been carefully

constructed from our own humanity,
colored by our past,
tempered by our culture,
extended to our future.

I will learn to see you and dissolve

 a picture of you,
formed by invented history,
solidified in every interaction with
and anyone remotely like you.

What chance did you have with me?
I had drawen this circle called “you”
and you are squeezed within it.

What did I care what you could say?

I could only hear what neatly fit my

own construction.

What did I care what interests you?

.

And the better I knew you,

the stronger the circle grew.

What chance did I have with you?
I chafe within the smug certainty of

your circle, too

Can we ever break free of how

we never knew each other
so that we can be with one another?

Move to your circle’s edge.
Let yourself know where you live.
Listen to your own certainty
and hear it as your own humanity.

When the circle opens

Love pours in.
